FAITH FORMATION DIRECTOR. Director of Faith Formation Position Description


 The Director of Faith Formation is a member of the staff of the two parishes and is principally responsible for faith formation.  The Director also will collaborate with other staff members on projects and activities for the good of the parishes.

            In general, the Director is expected to create a vision for the faith formation program, work with the pastor, the deacon and the Pastoral Council Faith Formation Committee to develop a strategic plan and annual action plans.   Specific responsibilities include:


            Recruit, train and support catechists

            Evaluate programs and catechists

            Present faith formation programs to parish

            Lead Parish Council Faith Formation Committee, provide data and information about existing and alternative programs

            Collaborate with Diocesan Office of Faith Formation, submit forms as required

            Train as a VIRTUS trainer and present training programs as necessary

            Manage all administrative details having to do with Faith Formation program

            Collaborate with other parishes to present city-wide RCIA program

            Participate in Confirmation program

            Develop plan for adult faith formation, assist as necessary


Parish Ministry (many of these are shared with other staff members)

            Visit the sick in hospital, nursing homes and other facilities; distribute Communion

            Meet with families to prepare funeral liturgy; contact organist, ensure that meal is ordered, prepare church for Mass, assist at Mass

            Train Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Communion; train funeral lectors

            Prepare families for Baptism

            Prepare bulletin announcements about parish ministry

            Coordinate monthly St. Anne event

            Communicate with parish staff and with parish about faith formation programs

            Organize and monitor First Friday Communion calls

            Assist other members of the staff as necessary

            Participate in diocesan events

            Help recruit and manage volunteers for parish events

            Collaborate with other members of parish staff
